Anaesthesiology PG Induction Guide 2026-27: FCPS and MCPS, Books, Hospitals and Cut-offs
Anaesthesiology covers theatre anaesthesia, intensive care, pain medicine and resuscitation. Seats are available at most large hospitals, and both FCPS and MCPS routes run in many of them.
Training routes
FCPS-II Anaesthesiology usually takes four years. MCPS is a shorter two-year route offered at many hospitals.

FCPS Part I
For CPSP training you need a pass in FCPS Part I in Anaesthesiology before you can register. Some hospitals and universities also run their own entry test, usually multiple-choice questions on basic and clinical sciences. Practise BCQs every day; our question of the day and the Path2Pass question banks are a good place to start.
Standard basic science texts for Part I: Snell's Clinical Anatomy, Guyton and Hall Medical Physiology, Robbins Basic Pathology, Lippincott or Katzung Pharmacology, and Langman's Medical Embryology.
