Obstetrics and Gynaecology PG Induction Guide 2026-27: Training, Books, Hospitals and Cut-offs
Obstetrics and gynaecology combines labour ward care, antenatal and postnatal medicine, and gynaecological surgery. It has a large share of seats and a high demand from female candidates in particular.
Training routes
FCPS-II Obstetrics and Gynaecology usually takes four years. MCPS is a two-year route at many hospitals.

FCPS Part I
For CPSP training you need a pass in FCPS Part I in Obstetrics and Gynaecology before you can register. Some hospitals and universities also run their own entry test, usually multiple-choice questions on basic and clinical sciences. Practise BCQs every day; our question of the day and the Path2Pass question banks are a good place to start.
Standard basic science texts for Part I: Snell's Clinical Anatomy, Guyton and Hall Medical Physiology, Robbins Basic Pathology, Lippincott or Katzung Pharmacology, and Langman's Medical Embryology.
