About the vacancy

The Orthopaedic Department at South City Hospital is seeking to appoint a Senior Doctor to work in Trauma and Orthopaedics. The post covers outpatient, emergency and theatre sessions, and the successful candidate will join a team of Consultants alongside a dynamic medical and nursing team.

For suitably experienced candidates, the hospital has indicated there may be opportunities to run independent clinics and theatre lists. These options will be explored after a review of the successful candidate’s skill set and level of experience.

Duty pattern

The role mainly covers the Emergency Room from 08:00 am to 07:59 am, on Mondays and Wednesdays only.

Non-resident, off-site cover: this is an off-site cover arrangement, but you must be within 10 minutes of the hospital while on duty. Candidates should consider their place of residence before applying.

The 08:00 am to 07:59 am timing amounts to a 24-hour cover period on each duty day.

Main duties

  • Maintain the highest clinical standards in the management of patients.
  • Actively participate in departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.
  • Take responsibility for active participation in Continuing Medical Education (CME).
  • Cover the ER from 08:00 am to 07:59 am on Mondays and Wednesdays.
  • Provide off-site cover while remaining within 10 minutes of the hospital.
  • Contribute to outpatient, emergency and theatre sessions with the Consultant team.

Eligibility

Essential

MBBS with MRCS or an equivalent qualification. The advertisement states this is an essential requirement for the post.

Desirable

Any Diploma or Postgraduate degree will be considered in addition to the essential requirement.
