The Aga Khan University (AKU), Karachi has opened registration for its Observership for Pre-Medical Students – a five-day programme designed to give intermediate and A-Level students firsthand insight into healthcare delivery and meaningful clinical exposure at a world-class institution before they commit to a career in medicine. Eligibility Criteria
📘 Pakistani Board / Cambridge Students
- Minimum 80% in HSSC-I (Pre-Medical), or
- At least three B grades in O Level or AS Level, which must include Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
🎓 High School (International) Students
- Minimum CGPA of 3.25, or
- An average B grade in High School, with Biology, Chemistry and Physics as mandatory subjects.
What is an observership? An observership is a supervised, non-hands-on clinical exposure programme. Participants observe healthcare delivery in a hospital setting without performing any clinical procedures. For pre-medical students, it is one of the most useful ways to confirm whether medicine is the right academic path before sitting for MDCAT or applying to medical colleges – and the certificate from AKU adds weight to future applications and personal statements.
Who Should Apply?
- FSc / HSSC Pre-Medical students who have completed first year (HSSC-I) with 80% or above.
- O Level, AS Level and A Level students with strong grades in Biology, Chemistry and Physics who are planning to apply to medical or dental colleges.
- High school students from international curricula (American, IB, etc.) meeting the CGPA / grade requirement.
- Students based in or able to travel to Karachi for five consecutive weekdays during December 2026 or January 2027.
How to Apply
- Open the official AKU application form (the same link as the QR code on the flyer).
- Fill in your personal, academic and contact details and submit the application before 13 November 2026.
- Keep your HSSC-I / O-Level / AS-Level result and any other academic documents ready, as these may be required to verify eligibility.
- Wait for the confirmation from AKU regarding your batch and the payment of the PKR 10,000 programme fee.
