In a significant development for civil service aspirants, the High Court of Sindh at Karachi has officially suspended the results of the Combined Competitive Examination 2024 (CCE-2024). The results, initially announced by the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) via a press release on May 6, 2026, have been halted following a constitutional petition filed by several aggrieved candidates.

Background of the Petition The constitutional petition (No. D-3048 of 2026) was filed by a group of seven candidates who appeared in the written portion of CCE-2024. According to the petitioners’ legal counsel, despite performing exceptionally well in the screening and written tests, they were excluded from the list of 70 successful candidates.

The petition alleges that the SPSC declared the results in an “arbitrary, discriminatory, non-transparent, and mala fide manner.” The core grievance asserts that the results were manipulated to favor a privileged class—specifically politically connected individuals and relatives of bureaucrats—at the expense of merit.

Court’s Ruling and Next Steps Hearing the petition on May 14, 2026, the two-member bench comprising Head of Const. Benches Justice Muhammad Saleem Jessar and Justice Nisar Ahmed Bhanbhro acknowledged the serious nature of the concerns raised.

To prevent irreparable loss to the petitioners and ensure transparency, the High Court ordered the following immediate actions:

  • Suspension of Results: The operation of the SPSC press release dated May 6, 2026, has been suspended. No further recruitment or interview processes can be undertaken until further notice.
  • Sealing of Records: The Examination Controller and Secretary of the SPSC (Respondent Nos. 3 and 4) have been explicitly directed to seal the entire record pertaining to CCE-2024.
  • Notice Issued: Notices have been issued to the Advocate General of Sindh and all relevant respondents to appear before the court.

The respondents are required to present proof and sealed records at the next date of hearing, which is scheduled for May 21, 2026.

Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story as the judicial proceedings continue next week.
