The Office of the Principal at Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical College Lyari (SMBBMCL), Karachi, has officially announced admissions for the Post Graduate Training Programs (MCPS and FCPS-II) for Session 2026-27B. Eligible medical professionals are invited to apply for the available medical training slots.
Programs and Specialties Offered
Applications are currently being accepted for the following disciplines:
- FCPS-II: Gynaecology & Obstetrics, General Surgery, Paediatrics, and Medicine.
- MCPS: Gynaecology & Obstetrics, and Paediatrics.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must meet the following requirements to be considered for the training programs:
- Hold an MBBS degree from a recognized university (under Schedule II & III of PMDC, Islamabad).
- Possess a valid PMDC Registration as a Medical Practitioner.
- Have completed a one-year recognized House Job.
- For FCPS-II Training, candidates must have a passing certificate for FCPS-I.
- For MCPS Training, candidates must pass the admission test and have completed a recognized one-year house job in the relevant specialty.
- Foreign medical graduates must provide an Equivalence Certificate issued by PMDC.
- Selection for FCPS-II and other recognized training courses will be strictly merit-based, determined through an Entry Test and Interview/VIVA, and is subject to the availability of seats.
- Residents may be required to perform emergency duties as per prevailing government or health department policies.
General Information and Application Guidelines
- Application Forms: Application forms for each course can be obtained from the Directorate of Post Graduate Medical Education, Training & Research Annex Building at SMBB Medical College Lyari, Karachi.
- Stipend Structure: FCPS-II training is a paid program, with a stipend provided according to the rules of the Government of Sindh. MCPS training is honorary (unpaid).
- Admissions Policy: The Post Graduate Selection Committee holds the final authority to accept or reject any application.
- Compliance: Incomplete applications or those submitted after the deadline will be outright rejected. Personal references or external contacts will not be entertained and will lead to disqualification.
- The college administration reserves the right to amend the rules, regulations, or schedule if deemed necessary for academic or administrative improvement.
