Official Announcement: PNMC Grants Accreditation for GBSN (Evening Shift) at Dr. Ruth R.M. Pfau Civil Hospital

We are pleased to share an important update regarding nursing education opportunities in Karachi. The Pakistan Nursing and Midwifery Council (PNMC) has officially recognized and accredited a new nursing program at the College of Nursing (Female), Dr. Ruth R.M. Pfau Civil Hospital, Karachi.

According to the official notification (Ref No. PNMC NO. F-11-INST-2026/03-7) issued on May 13, 2026, the council has formally approved the commencement of evening classes for the Generic Bachelor of Science in Nursing (GBSN) program.

Key Accreditation Details

The decision was finalized during the PNMC’s 3rd Session Meeting held on May 7, 2026, under the chairmanship of the President of the PNMC. The officially approved program details are as follows:

• Accredited Program: Generic BSN (GBSN) – Evening Shift
• Approved Capacity: 50 Seats
• Authorized Institution: College of Nursing (Female), Dr. Ruth R.M. Pfau Civil Hospital, Karachi, Sindh.

Admissions and Compliance

With this official recognition, the institute is now fully authorized to begin admitting and inducting students into the newly approved evening program up to the 50-seat capacity limit.

The PNMC has emphasized that ongoing accreditation is contingent upon strict adherence to all institutional guidelines. The College of Nursing is bound to comply with the “Pakistan Nursing and Midwifery Council Application, Inspection, Recognition, and Accreditation of Educational Institutions Regulations, 2023.” The notification clearly states that any non-compliance with these regulatory standards will lead to the immediate de-recognition of the institute.

This approval is a significant milestone for the College of Nursing at Dr. Ruth R.M. Pfau Civil Hospital, expanding access to quality healthcare education for aspiring nurses in Sindh.
