Responsibilities
- Assess patients, and develop and deliver individualized physical therapy treatment programs for those with medical ailments or health-related issues that limit movement or abilities in everyday activities.
- Address perceptual and psychosocial activities, instrumental activities of daily living and activities of daily living.
- Assess patients for the need for adaptive equipment and/or assistive devices.
- Liaise with medical personnel in daily ward rounds, and with peers in the outpatient rehabilitation department, to obtain relevant information about patient progress and needs.
- Educate and advise patients and their families about the diagnosed condition, the treatment plan, the expected prognosis and the short- and long-term goals.
- Participate in internal (in-house) and/or external training programs and research activities.
- Interact professionally with patients, families, peers, and medical and health care personnel.
- Write patient assessment and progress notes in the designed format.
- Comply with department policies and organizational quality standards, i.e. JCIA.
Requirements
DPT
Doctor of Physical Therapy from a recognized university.
Experience
Minimum one year as a Physical Therapist, or one year of traineeship, preferably in a hospital.
Knowledge
Knowledge of physical therapy theory, techniques and equipment.
Skills
Ability to perform physical therapy procedures and apply or use assistive devices and gait aids.
